Saturday Spankings - Blackmail

Are Saturdays rolling around faster these days?  It does seem that way, but I appreciate anyone who has stopped by here during this busy season. Everyone needs down time and reading a good book is one of the best ways to relax.  Check out all the snippets and I know you find one to fit your taste.
My snippet come from Cassie’s Life. A caller, whose voice Cassie doesn’t recognize, contacts Cassie making threats. The caller won’t identify himself, only alludes to something from Cassie’s past. He insists on seeing Cassie face to face before giving her any details. Before the schedule meeting, Cassie and Sue and the girls muse over what it could be.

“You said this had to be back before you got married. Did you do anything illegal back then?” Jenny asked and I wasn’t a bit amused as Allie and Sue laughed.
“Yes, Jenny,” I began, glaring at them, “I might have broken a law or two along the way, but nothing for which the statute of limitations hasn’t long since run out. Honey, I was a wild child then. I did some extremely embarrassing things that I would rather not come to light. But I didn’t do anything jail worthy I promise you. Tom knows I was wild and promiscuous, but he doesn’t know details and I’d rather he didn’t ever find out.
Allie and Jenny seemed to view the coming day as an adventure. I wasn’t feeling the same. We made our plans and Sue and I spent the rest of the afternoon wondering what I’d done so long ago that could land ‘my sweet ass in jail’ more than forty years later.

Come by the Reading Room each Wednesday for some questions and answer from different characters in the Cassie's Space series or the Cal's Law series.

Cassie’s Life (Book 10)

Ask Cassie about her life on the river and she’ll tell you it’s lovely and peaceful. But while Cassie loves the life she lives, peaceful is not always an accurate description. Whether she’s confronting an armed man who’s in a drunken rage, planning a friend’s wedding or dealing with a ghost in a backwoods lodge, Cassie is going to deal with it the best way she knows how. And peaceful doesn’t always work.
When a mysterious phone call comes for Cassandra Wentworth – Cassie’s past is suddenly back to haunt her in a devastating way. Tom has always said nothing from before the time they met counts, but he didn’t know about this.  Sue, Annie, Allie and Jenny are all willing to help, but will it be enough?

Kathryn Blake - A Naughty New Year

A Naughty New Year

She thought a sip of champagne wouldn't hurt her. Turns out, she was wrong.

*Available only as part of the Mischief under the Mistletoe Anthology*

I'm so happy to have Kathryn Blake with me today at the Reading Room. She is a wonderful writer and when you this the Mistletoe Anthology you will have many great stories. Read on for more about A Naughty New Year.

Keywords:
BDSM, Ds, Spanking Romance, novella, anthology, New Year, Holiday, consequences, discipline,

Blurb:

Kelly Evans is nearly six months pregnant when her Dom husband, Jim, suggests they invite their closest friends over for a private New Year's Eve party. Just a friendly get together, nothing kinky, and no champagne for either of the girls, since Kelly's friend, Tiffany, was a month along further than she was. Given it's New Year's Eve, Kelly feels Jim's no-champagne edict isn't fair, but Jim warns her if she goes against his wishes, she will be punished. Though Kelly understands Jim's reasoning, she still feels he's merely being over-protective, and as much as she loves him a sip of champagne never hurt anyone. That is until now.

Excerpt  – Only a bit?

"Help yourself to the hors d'oeuvres, folks. They're Texas favorites."
"Are any of them spicy?" Kyle asked Kelly when Jim strode toward the kitchen.
She shrugged. "Depends on whom you ask. For Jim, they're all greenhorn safe. For me, the queso dip along with the Monterey Jack and green chili eggrolls carry a punch. But the mushrooms are pretty mild. Why?"
"Kyle…"
"Tiffany's stomach has been on the finicky side of late. And since Jim's idea of hot would burn the roof off most people's mouths, I thought I'd best check first."
"That wasn't necessary, Kyle," Tiffany pouted. "I'm fine."
"Right. So, throwing up at all times of the day is just a new hobby for you then, is it?"
"Not funny."
"No. It's not," he agreed as Jim returned with their beverages.
"Somethin' up?" Jim asked after he placed Kelly and Tiffany's drinks on coasters and handed Kyle his Heineken.
"Nah. We were just trying to decide if we'd need a fire extinguisher on hand before we tried any of your appetizers."
Jim chuckled as he took a seat in an upholstered armchair situated across from the couch. "The mushrooms are on the mild side," he suggested. "I took your pansy taste buds into account before I chose my selection."
Kyle sat in the chair closest to Jim's and took a swig of his beer before he admitted, "It's not my taste buds that are in question as much as Tiffany's stomach."
"Ah. Sorry, Tiffany. I didn't think."
"My stomach's fine, Jim. Thank you. Kyle is being overly protective as usual. That's all."
"And rightfully so," Jim concurred before taking a sip of his Jack Daniels. "You'd think you girls would be pleased by the way your men looked after you."
"Sometimes what you do is indeed pleasing," Kelly agreed. "Other times, however, you can be a bit of a pain."
"Only a bit?" Jim murmured. "Looks like I'll need to intensify my repertoire."

BIO
Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine.  In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them.  However, even in Kathryn's novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart.  In fact, sometimes he finds it extremely difficult to follow through on his threats or promises.

To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love.  However, part of that protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control.  They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Even so, these men aren't infallible, and they do make mistakes, but love and respect will always triumph in the end.

For the curious - Questions for Allie, Ryan and Cassie

Thanks for dropping by for a few more questions and answers. Today we have some answers for both Allie and Ryan and from Cassie.

In Cassie's Road Trip, Allie and Ryan had a crisis when Ryan completely lost his temper. Readers had some questions about this.

Okay, so this one is for Ryan and Allie. Do you think you'll ever decide to pursue dd again or will the relationship stay more on the fun side of things?

Ryan: I really didn’t want to ever spank Allie again after what I did. I felt like shit, excuse the language. The last thing I ever want to do is hurt Allie. But she convinced me that she understood what had happened and she wasn’t scared it would ever happen again. We’ve gone back to fun spankings. Allie does very little wrong, thankfully. She has gotten into a few things lately that I wasn’t happy about. But I’ll never even think of spanking her again when I’m really angry.

Allie: I kinda wondered that myself for a while. He scared me that time, but he scared himself worse. Ryan is such a wonderful man. I know nothing like that will ever happen again. He’s willing now to spank for fun and unlike Cassie, Sue and sometimes Jenny I like to stay out of trouble. So I don’t know if the other kind are in our future or not.

This next question is for Cassie. List three things that your readers do not know about you?

I’ve been around a while, it’s hard to imagine I’d have any secrets left. Let me think…

I’m an avid collector of Bob Timberlake paintings.

I once had dinner with prince Charles. This was before he married Diana.

With the help of Drew and Allie we have Willow nearly perfectly trained to a variety of hand signals. I’ve never told Tom and he thinks she is a genius dog who reads minds.

Enough about me, did you know that Sue's left handed?

It's my hope that these questions each Wednesday will help those that like my characters feel that they know them better. And for those who haven't read any, maybe the questions will peek their interest and they'll try one. If you have any questions please email me at pk.corey@yahoo.com or leave them in a comment.
