Trying not to think about it

I’m always shocked when the calendar turns to August – it stuns and saddens me.  I’m a teacher and this depicts the truth:

I feel this is my last week of vacation. Next week I have to go into school twice, one day to prepare and one day for orientation with the kids. I’m not ready, I’m not ready to wear long pants, I’m not ready to wear shoes, I’m not ready to get up to an alarm clock and I’m definitely not ready to give up my morning hours in my peaceful and calm writing room.

I’ll survive, I hope to spend most of this week working on the final edits of the latest Cassie book – I’m excited about that. Then I guess it will be back to stealing a few hours writing time in the afternoon. One way or another I'll get my writing time in.

  2. So sorry about having to go back to school. Here we know summer is coming to an end when we see the big trucks with loads of tomatoes. I get so sad. I love summer and yes it is nice to have the kids in school but I love to have them around, driving me crazy and not living with a schedule. Hugs

    1. Blondie, that not living with a schedule is the best! And as an empty nester it's pretty nice and quiet too - great for writing.

Can't believe you are going back to school next week, where did the time go.

    1. I don't start back full time then, just orientation. I'm back on the 19 and the kids come on the 25th.

  8. PK,
August is a month of Sundays. You go back awfully early.
I am glad to be done. Soon that will be you. Right?
I owe you a long email. We are away again and I am hoping this iPad accepts my comment. Hang in there.

    1. I'd love a long email, but just enjoy your time away right now. I don't have much teaching left - I plan to enjoy it, I just wish summer was a little longer.
